Starting from...
Pompeii and Herculaneum Baths

The ancient Greek invention of the Hypocaust, was
taken to Europe's North and Northwest by Romans. To Albion and to many of
the German Provinces along with aqueducts, paved roads, legal systems and other
radical technical ideas of the period. It made its way into the modern
houses and languages of Europe.

From there the system went over the Baltic and North Seas
to the Nordic Lands of the Europe's North.
